The TFT Model 3320 CAP to EAS Converter continuously monitors a CAP (“Common Alerting Protocol”) source to seek new emergency messages and generates an EAS protocol output for connection to existing FCC Type Certified EAS Encoder/ Decoders. The unit actively polls a CAP server every few seconds for new emergency messages. Additionally the unit can activate based on a CAP message from any type of CAP 1.2 IPAWS compliant source using Simple Object Access Protocol (“SOAP”).
The CAP-to-EAS Model 3320 connects to the Internet via two RJ-45 jacks and has a high level audio output for connection to the EAS Encoder/Decoder. The 3320 monitors multiple CAP servers for primary and redundant feeds. It is also capable of feeding back status to a CAP server. Updates are handled automatically between the Model 3320 and the ASI CAP server without any operator intervention. The Model 3320 provides the FCC mandated link between CAP and EAS and can connect to any FCC approved EAS encoder/decoder or decoder only. When connected to a TFT EAS 911, the unit will monitor message activity, report status, and can even email staff accordingly.
An internal firewall is always on. Secure communications via HTTPS for server authentication and encryption are standard. Norton Antivirus, or a local antivirus software, is used to ensure that no viruses compromise the unit or the network.
