As part of the DTV transition which was completed in 2009, all frequencies in the 700 MHz range (698 - 806 MHz) were reassigned for public safety and telecom use. Many wireless microphone systems manufactured prior to 2009 were programmed to operate in this frequency range, and the FCC has now officially prohibited all use of 700 MHz wireless mics in the US after June 12, 2010. To assist you during this transition, several wireless mic manufacturers have extended their generous 700 MHz trade-in rebate programs through June 30, 2010. The purchase period for these rebates has ended. Rebate claims must be postmarked by July 30th (Sennheiser claims by July 15th). Download the rebate forms below for details.
The details and benefits of each manufacturer's program differ, but they all require that you purchase a new wireless system or components and then return your qualifying 700 MHz system or components with accompanying paperwork to claim the rebate. Rebate amounts range from $15 to $2,000 or up to 15% off your next purchase; the exact amount depends on the new product(s) you are purchasing and the 700 MHz product(s) traded in.
